Art Therapy Keynotes, Workshops, Courses

Doris is available to provide keynote addresses and presentations for one hour to a week of 15 to 30 class hours. Doris’s presentations include visual case examples, power point lectures, and hands-on experience that include intervention techniques and theoretical orientation materials. Prior art experience is not necessary.  Continuing Education Units (CEUs) can be available for psychologists, mental health counselors, marriage family therapists, social workers, educators, medical personnel, grief and loss counselors, play  therapists, and addiction counselors. Lectures and Courses include:

Art Therapy Introduction – Explores the uses of art therapy in schools, special education and psychiatric settings as well as in personal growth.

Family Art Therapy – Provides an overview of family counseling and psychotherapy. Integrates art as a second language in family diagnosis, communication and treatment.

Advanced Human Development – Ability to recognize and understand theoretical presuppositions of various approaches to human development from a systemic point of view.

Trauma and Art Therapy Treatment – Explorations in a variety of proven art therapy interventions including the Instinctual Trauma Response composed of externalized dialogues and self-soothing experiences.

Art Therapy Treatment with Substance Abusers – Issues within the psychological and social context using both verbal and non-verbal modalities.

Arts of the Covenant - Art is a integral part of sacred expression. It is a major partner in human imagination and can be used to revitalize individuals, groups and communities. This workshop provides individuals with opportunities to explore this premise.

Forgiveness: A Counseling Tool - Forgiveness is an effort to heal a relationship and a willingness to abandon one’s right to resentment, negative judgment and indifferent behavior toward another. This workshop will address the healing powers of forgiveness.

Mandalas and Healing – This workshop provides an overview of Archetypal Psychology, themes and purposes of art, early images and art as healing.

Art as Assessment – Included are paper pencil, projective tests and art based assessments.

Grief and Loss and Art Therapy Treatment - This workshop will review cycles of love and grief; normal grief reactions; and determinants of grief.   It will address the mourning process, grief models, and effectiveness of grief counseling using creative and experiential counseling interventions.

Supervision and Consulting

National and international supervision available with SKYPE. Also available is consulting on Program Development including clinical, medical, university, community and best practices that include both under graduate and graduate training.

Online Courses

Working with Notre Dame de Namur University online courses are being designed to fill requirements of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, the American Psychological Association, the California Board of Clinical Social Work, and Mental Health Counseling Associations.
